Our Very Pink Playroom

I a disclaimer to give before I start. Be prepared - it is PINK OVERLOAD! This is not at all what I had planned to do in here but Lillie and Lola helped with just about everything in this room and they weren't huge fans of some of the other ideas I had for the room and seemed to think the more pink the better. After finishing this room I have now vowed we won't be adding any more pink to anywhere else in the house (besides their bedroom).  Ha! <br /><br />When we first saw this house and opened the door up to the playroom I got so excited! We didn't have any kind of playroom in our townhouse (where we lived for the last five years before this house) and really didn't have any extra room for any kind of toy storage either (no attic, basement, almost no closet space, etc) We found lots of creative ways to hide and store their toys in our townhome that you can <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/where-are-all-toys-and-more-give-thanks.html">read about here</a> and honestly we were quite content with how that worked but I would be lying if I didn't say I was thrilled at the thought of having a playroom when we moved in here. One of the things I really liked in this particular room were the built-in storage areas. They are now filled with puzzles, markers, crayons and other things like that. <br /><br />I have lots of before and after's for you all. The "befores" are a pretty random mix of things. I forgot to ever take my real camera through to take proper "before" shots though so I had to dig through all my cell phone photos and see what I could come up with for "befores". <br /><br />The biggest design element in the room was the wallpaper. I couldn't find what I was looking for for a tray so I found one that was a nice size and then just spray painted the base part of it gold. Almost Finished

Sorry! I spent all night last night editing all the photos for the full playroom post and was planning on having it ready for this morning. I ended up getting 47 photos edited though and needless to say that is WAY too many for one post so I am still weeding through them and narrowing them down and then finishing up some of the writing. When I made our <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2013/10/an-oversized-chalkboard-and-bench-in.html">oversized chalkboard in our kitchen</a> I had this leftover piece of whiteboard (I painted the backside of it with chalkboard paint for the <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2013/10/an-oversized-chalkboard-and-bench-in.html">one downstairs</a>). The girls played with the extra whiteboard all of the time so I thought I would frame it out similar to how I have done several of our other chalkboards (you can find a <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/how-to-make-your-own-chalkboard-with.html">tutorial</a> for one of them <a href="http://dearlillieblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/how-to-make-your-own-chalkboard-with.html">here</a>) and add some brackets and hang it on the wall. Shortly after she got it she decided to draw ALL over the wood part.  Fortunately she didn't really try it again after that first time but she did so much damage that first time that it probably wouldn't have mattered - ha! Well, we finally got around to spray-painting it so now it looks new. There is a basket for each type of thing (for instance all their play kitchen stuff is in one, doll clothes are in another one, dress-up and accessories in another one, etc.) I plan on adding a little chalkboard label to each one and writing on it what is inside but we've used this system for a little while now even without the labels and it has worked really well. Their Grammy made it for them and they love it. They also love that you have to go up the stairs to their "little house" and that it's kind of a secret fort. Lola was actually playing in there while I took most of the photos of the playroom so I didn't get the best shot of it but the detail on all four sides is amazing!
